Smartphone cost a barrier for rural women accessing internet: Google study. A Google study found that the cost of the smartphones is the biggest barrier for rural Indian women from accessing the internet. On an average, 25% women continue to use the internet after being trained in various techniques, it said.

 

Maharashtra Government launches online portals MahaDBT, MahaVASTU. MahaVASTU is an Online Building Permission Management System with an electronic workflow for sanctioning building approvals with full transparency.

 

Studying the sea: India prepares to dive deep with manned craft. At a time when India has successfully launched its heaviest rocket-GSLV-Mk3- capable of carrying humans to space, work has begun on building a vehicle to take man deep into the ocean.

 

Ravichandran Ashwin overtakes Harbhajan Singh in most five-fors list for India. Ravichandran Ashwin, who registered his 26th fifer in the Colombo Test against Sri Lanka, has moved past Harbhajan Singh on the list of most five-fors for India in Tests. Anil Kumble leads with 35 in 132 games.

 

Union Government launches Bharat 22 ETF to sell stakes in 22 firms. The Union Finance Ministry has launched second exchange-traded fund (ETF), named Bharat 22. It will help to speed up Government’s disinvestment programme budgeted to raise a record Rs 72,500 crore in the FY 2018.

The proposal was given by the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh in a bid to revive the legacy of Upadhyaya, who died in 1968 at the junction itself. The centre on Friday approved a proposal to rename the Mughalsarai railway station in Uttar Pradesh after RSS ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, a home ministry official said.

 

U.S. submits formal notice of withdrawal from Paris climate pact. The U.S. State Department has officially informed the United Nations it will withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement in a document issued on Friday, but left the door open to re-engaging if the terms improved for the United States.

 

ISRO and CSIR-NPL sign MoU for time and frequency traceability services. The ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) and CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (NPL) have signed MoU to make indigenous regional positioning system-NavIC independent from the US clock system.
