Government proposes to set up 14 new AIIMS hospitals under PMSSY. The Union Government has proposed to establish an additional 14 new AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science) under various phases of Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) in different parts of the country.

 

Aadhaar Must For Death Certificate From October 1 To Prevent Identity Fraud. The government has made Aadhaar number mandatory for the registration of death from October 1 to prevent identity fraud.

 

Lok Sabha passes NABARD (Amendment) Bill, 2017. The Bill also seeks to amend certain clauses in the light of reference of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development Act, 2006 in the proposed legislation.

 

R Ashwin quickest to 2000 runs and 250 wickets in Test cricket. R Ashwin, who has played 51 Tests, is now the fastest player to reach 2000 runs and 250 wickets in Test cricket as he went past former all-rounder Richard Hadlee of New Zealand who took the same number of wickets and scored runs in 54 Tests.

 

Sun’s core rotates 4 times faster than its surface: Study. A team of researchers have discovered solar seismic waves which revealed that Sun’s core is rotating four times faster than its surface.  Earlier it was assumed that sun’s core rotate at same speed as the surface.

 

India looking to sell up to 25 percent stake in four defence companies via IPO. The government of India is considering selling up to 25 percent of its stake in four state-owned companies under the control of the department of defence through an initial public offering, a public notice showed on Friday.

 

Hyderabad airport gets country’s first express security check facility. The Director General of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) OP Singh, on Friday, launched country’s first “Express Check In facility for domestic passengers” at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad.

The Delhi Metro will begin a month-long “Heritage Walk” programme from Saturday to give people a taste of the rich of Old Delhi, it said on Friday. The event is being organised in collaboration with Delhi Walks, an entity specialising in conducting curated walks, and will cost Rs. 500 for each walk, it said.

 

Qatar to become first Arab state to offer permanent residency to some non-citizens. Qatar’s Cabinet has approved a draft law making permanent residency available to some non-citizens. It marks a partial shift from Qatar’s heavy reliance on its longstanding visa-sponsorship system.

Centre approves construction of 1,000 km of 7 expressways in high density corridors. The Centre has approved a plan for construction of 1,000 km of expressways under National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase-VI. These include sections of high density corridors of Vadodara-Mumbai (400 km), Delhi-Meerut (66 km), Bangalore-Chennai (334 km), Delhi -Jaipur (261Km ), Delhi-Chandigarh (249 Km), Kolkata-Dhanbad (227 Km) and Delhi-Agra (200 km).
