GST Rates: Services by Educational Institution to students are exempted from Tax. Denying the reports that GST@18% is levied on fees being charged for lodging hostels, the finance ministry said that there is no change in tax liability relating to education and related services in the GST era, except the reduction in tax rate on certain items of education.


Saraswati: Indian scientists discover supercluster of galaxies. A team of Indian astronomers have identified previously unknown, extremely large supercluster of galaxies located in the direction of constellation Pisces. It has been named “Saraswati”. It was discovered by astronomers from Inter University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), both in Pune, Maharashtra.

Scientists from Harvard Medical School for first time have encoded a small movie clip in the DNA of living bacterial cells and then played it back. They had used the CRISPR gene-editing technique to encode and retrieve reconstructed frames of a classic 1870s racehorse in motion sequence of photos into the genome of common gut bacteria E. coli.


Google acquired Bangalore-based artificial intelligence firm Halli Labs. It focuses on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. The firm which was co-founded by former chief technology officer Stayzilla, Pankaj Gupta, announced the acquisition in a blog post.
